SYNOPSIS :
La Première guerre mondiale a fortement marqué la Creuse, département rural du centre de la France au long déclin démographique, travaillée par des éleveurs attachés à leurs terres. Dans le nord du plateau de Millevaches, près de la moitié des mobilisés ne sont jamais rentrés chez eux. Marquée comme beaucoup de régions françaises par une saignée de sa jeunesse, la Creuse fut aussi le lieu de faits marquants mais néanmoins largement méconnus de la Révolution russe. En 1917, à La Courtine, chef-lieu de canton, plusieurs milliers de soldats russes se sont organisés en soviet, réclamant leur retour au pays, refusant de continuer la guerre et de se soumettre à l'autorité des gradés.
